Nyan Cat Jar
The reason that I chose to paint my jar as the "Nyan Cat", a popular YouTube video sensation featuring a cat with a pop-tart body farting rainbows, was when I made a simple connection. As the theme for this year's annual Carson City Hospital Breast Cancer Auction was 'Winds of Change', I connected the 'wind' and the Nyan Cat, who was breaking wind. Ridiculous as it may sound, it's truly one of the first things that came to my mind.
I had more than just one or two problems throughout this project. From blowing through three different jars to create the perfect coat of paint (which I was still unsuccessful at achieving), to experimenting with several different types of paints and experimenting with ways to paint it. In the end, spray paint was the winner.
I would have to say that this piece was more or less successful. I am planning on purchasing it back myself at the auction, however am curious to see if a computer-nerd who actually recognizes the the silly internet meme will be willing to buy it.
But as far as being overall pleased with the outcome, I am slightly disappointed that the final background coat didn't come out as smoothly as I would have liked. However, all in all, I love my little jar!
